How to install WooCommerce
Today I’ll show you how to install WooCommerce.
WooCommerce is an extremely popular WordPress plugin and e-commerce platform. It has been downloaded over 17 million times and according to builtwith.com powers over 37% of all online stores.
I’ll also talk you through how to import dummy data, so that you get a good idea of how your store will look once populated with your own products.

How to install WooCommerce
Login to your WordPress admin area
Hover over the “Plugins” item on the main menu and then click on the “Add New” link.
Search for WooCommerce, using the search field in the top right area of the page.
Then click the “Install Now” in the WooCommerce block.
Click the “Activate” button
WooCommerce is now installed.
You only need to follow the remaining steps if you’d like to install the dummy data
How to install WooCommerce dummy data
Dummy data for WooCommerce is located in a file called dummy-data.xml, which is located in the WooCommerce plugin directory.
Once WooCommerce is installed, you can find it by using cPanel or FTP software and navigating to ‘wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/dummy-data’
Download dummy-data.xml to your local machine.
From the WordPress admin, go to: Tools > Import and select the WordPress link.
If you do not have the WordPress importer installed, you will be prompted to install the importer and then proceed.
Click the “Choose file” button and then locate the dummy-data.xml file you downloaded in step 1.
Click the “Upload file and import” button.
Select who you want to make the author of the new products.
Select the download and import file attachments checkbox.
