Taking a cPanel Back Up
We always recommend users store their own back ups locally. Whilst we hold rolling back ups of accounts, these are time sensitive and generally only go back for 30 days. You may wish to archive your content periodically – This article provides information on how to take your own cPanel back up…
1) Navigate to the cPanel home page
This can be done via your regular cPanel log-in page or via the Client Portal.
If you are accessing via the client portal, navigate to Services, select the relevant package and then Login to cPanel from the left hand menu.
2) Select the Back Up option
Once cPanel has opened you’ll need to select the Backup icon. (If you cant see it you can use the search box)
3) Select Full Backup
A full backup creates an archive of all of your website’s files and configuration. You can use this file to move your account to another server or to keep a local copy of your files.
4) Creating a CPanel Back Up
To keep things simple I choose to keep the backup in the home directory of the server as it is easy to download afterwards. When you are ready, it’s simply a case of clicking the ‘Generate Backup’ button. You can select the option to be notified once complete if required.
A new page will open showing a Full Backup in Progress… message.
5) Downloading your cPanel Back Up
Select Go Back from the new page. This will return you to the previous BackUp content.
You will now see the cPanel Back Up that was created is now available for download…
To download all you need to do is right click on the file and save the file locally.
